Panda Express Launches Fundraising Effort Benefiting Oklahoma Tornado Victims

ROSEMEAD, Calif., May 24, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Panda Restaurant Group Inc. (PRG), the world leader in Asian dining experiences, today announced fundraising efforts to assist with disaster relief for those affected by the recent Oklahoma tornado. Panda Restaurant Group, Inc. has committed to raising funds through in-store and corporate donations at all Panda Express, Panda Inn and Hibachi-San locations to help those in need during this unsettling time.

Starting Thursday, May 23, through Friday, June 14, all 1,600 Panda Restaurant Group restaurants across the country will facilitate donation collections through in-store drop-boxes allowing guests to make contributions of any amount. Additionally, Panda Restaurant Group, Inc. will match 100 percent of the proceeds, with all donations benefiting the American Red Cross.

"We are extremely saddened by the aftermath of this disaster. Our thoughts are with those impacted by the tornado, including our guests and employees in Oklahoma and the surrounding region," said Peggy Cherng, co-chairman of PRG. "We are eager to support the relief efforts and assist the American Red Cross in rebuilding and aiding communities that were affected by the tornado."

Panda Restaurant Group Inc. has often fundraised and lent its support to those in need. This support includes close to $1.3 million in donations to the relief efforts since 2011 following the Japan magnitude 9.0 earthquake, Midwest storms and tornadoes, and Hurricane Sandy.
