CHARLOTTE, N.C., June 3, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- National IT infrastructure and cloud solutions provider Peak 10 Inc. has assembled a response team of IT leaders and engineers from several of its geographic operations to be ready for deployment in the event of a natural disaster. The 2013 Atlantic hurricane season began June 1, and forecasters at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Climate Prediction Center anticipate an "active to extremely active" season, according to NOAA's annual report issued in May.
NOAA predicts 13 to 20 named storms, including seven to 11 hurricanes. Three to six of these could be major hurricanes. These ranges are above the typical seasonal average of 12 named storms, six hurricanes and three major hurricanes.
The Peak 10 Response Team is comprised of employees, representing engineering and IT support roles to key leaders in the organization. These employees participate in regular disaster simulations through the company's Data Center Academy training program. The deployment of this team in the event of a natural disaster provides added onsite staff to support customers' business continuity while maintaining the security and availability of Peak 10's IT infrastructure.
