International School of Hydrocarbon Measurement Announces Record Attendance at 2013 School


NORMAN, Okla., June 4, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The International School of Hydrocarbon Measurement (ISHM) was held May 14-16, 2013 at the Cox Communications Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This marked the 88th annual event which has been presented in affiliation with the University of Oklahoma since its founding in 1924, and which is acknowledged as one of the oldest and largest hydrocarbon measurement schools in the world.

For the just-completed 2013 school, attendance reached an all-time record high of more than 1700 registrants who actively participated in over 260 lectures, panel discussions, and hands-on workshops on a wide range of hydrocarbon gas and liquid measurement as well as flow control topics. General Chairman for ISHM's 2013 school, Mr. Henry James of BP Pipelines & Logistics in Houston, Texas, introduced his successor: General Chairman for ISHM 2014, Mr. David Bromley, Gas Measurement Technical Authority for BP Pipelines based in Louisiana.

The keynote speaker for this year's event was Mr. Kyle Isakower, Vice President for Regulatory and Economic Policy at the American Petroleum Institute where he oversees API programs that review proposed environmental rules and develops industry standards for use domestically and abroad. Mr. Isakower's extremely well-received presentation was entitled "An Overview of North American Energy: The Impact of U.S. Energy Policy."

During this year's opening General Assembly, the Laurance S. Reid Award for 2013 was presented to Dr. Kenneth R. Hall of Texas A&M University, a long-time professor, academic administrator and advisor, active researcher, prolific author, and industry consultant. Dr. Hall was honored for his outstanding contributions to the field of hydrocarbon measurement, testing, and control.
