The USHCC Foundation Welcomes American Public University System as its Newest University Member

WASHINGTON, June 19, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation is proud to welcome American Public University (APU) as the newest member of its University Program. A part of the American Public University System (APUS), APU offers more than 170 quality degree and certificate programs in a flexible, fully-online format. Scholar-practitioners from around the globe offer adult learners a diverse and affordable selection of career-relevant courses. The university was recently recognized as a "Top Graduate School for Hispanics" by The Hispanic Outlook on Education.

"The USHCC is pleased to have APU join our family of university members and we look forward to developing a constructive and valuable working partnership together," said USHCC President & CEO Javier Palomarez. "APU's mission of providing affordable and quality higher education is fully supported and proudly endorsed by our organization. Through its online programs, APU has facilitated access to higher education for our nation's veterans and working adults for over two decades. At the USHCC, we believe having access to quality, higher education is an economic imperative and critical to preparing the skilled workforce of the future."

In a time of rising college costs, APU's undergraduate tuition has not increased in over a decade. According to College Board and the National Center for Education Statistics data, its combined tuition, fees and books are roughly 19% less for undergraduate, and 33% less for graduate students than the average in-state cost at a public university. Among 10 leading providers of online education, APU is on average 42% lower for undergraduate and 33% lower for graduate students.

"We're pleased to partner with the USHCC to help foster Hispanic career and economic development through providing affordable, quality academic programs," said Dr. Wallace E. Boston, APUS president and CEO. "We have a shared vision of the importance and impact of education in ensuring the future competitiveness of our nation, and are honored to support USHCC members in this way."
