Lake Placid, NY Resort Named Finalist in Conde Nast Traveler 2013 World Savers Awards

LAKE PLACID, N.Y., Aug. 12, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Out of a record 174 applications from around the globe, the Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort in Lake Placid, NY has been named a finalist in Condé Nast Traveler's 2013 World Savers Awards in the "Large Resorts" category.

Now in its sixth year, the annual World Savers competition recognizes the efforts of the travel industry's most visionary companies and organizations taking innovative steps toward sustainable and environmentally friendly travel solutions.

The Golden Arrow is one of two resorts in the United States to have been recognized in this category, alongside resorts located in California, Sri Lanka, India, and Malaysia, in what is being considered the competition's most competitive year to date. "We are honored to have been named a finalist alongside the best of the best in the eco-travel world by Condé Nast," stated Jenn Holdereid, General Manager and Owner of the Golden Arrow. "Given the breadth of the competition, this recognition serves as a testament to our green program and continued commitment to the Adirondack environment."

An Audubon International platinum certified lodging property – one of only six nationwide – the Golden Arrow has taken immense strides toward becoming a sustainable property since the inception of the resort's extensive green program in 2005.

"Becoming a sustainable green resort has been a priority that we began factoring into our everyday decisions here at the resort," Holdered said. "Being named a finalist in the World Savers Awards will only provide momentum to drive our green efforts forward."

Applicants to World Savers Awards were judged by an expert panel in five areas, including education, environmental and cultural preservation, health, poverty relief, and wildlife conservation. Winners in each category will be named in the September issue of Condé Nast Traveler.
