HOUSTON, Aug. 20, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Please join Houston Mayor Annise Parker, city officials, and representatives of Cantwell-Andersen Inc./Cloudbreak, National Equity Fund, Inc. (NEF), Amegy Bank, the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas), Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and both the City of Houston and Harris County housing authorities for a dedication ceremony celebrating the opening of the Travis Street Plaza, a 192-unit permanent housing community for homeless and disabled veterans in Houston, Texas.

This new and vibrant affordable housing community provides supportive services and permanent residences for homeless and very low-income veterans transitioning from an adjacent, transitional housing and treatment facility. Travis Street Plaza will offer one of the city's few service-enriched, permanent housing communities for veterans.

Developed by Cantwell-Anderson's mission-driven subsidiary Cloudbreak Houston, Travis Street Plaza is part of Cloudbreak's multi-decade vision to end homelessness among veterans through a coordinated continuum of care including transitional and permanent supportive housing.

Construction began in February 2012, thanks in part to a $500,000 Affordable Housing Program (AHP) grant from Amegy Bank and FHLB Dallas, and the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit, through which NEF provided $11.1 million in equity, with additional funding provided by the City of Houston, the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs, New Man LLC, and Cantwell-Anderson, Inc.

The public and media are welcome to attend the event.
