ACTON, Mass., Sept. 11, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- SeaChange at IBC stand 14.B20 -- SeaChange International (Nasdaq:SEAC) today announced that Livas Telecommunications, one of the leading cable television service providers in Latvia, has extended its multi-year service agreement. Livas has relied on the SeaChange CASIS linear broadcast software solution since 2009 to handle electronic program guide (EPG) metadata and Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) table generation for its multi-platform television services.
CASIS manages all EPG functionality and DVB tables for Livas cable and terrestrial customers and also publishes the EPG data online for Livas IPTV. Since the initial deployment, CASIS metadata management has been expanded to 250 channel services. The service agreement with SeaChange ensures support and bug fix upgrades.
"As a multi-platform operator, Livas' priority is to maintain a single, high-quality and cost-efficient infrastructure that has the flexibility to grow and serve all of our audiences," said Alex Pavlov, Technical Director, Livas Telecommunications. "The high-quality linear broadcast software from SeaChange, together with their superior know-how, is the answer to our EPG needs today. This is just as it was when we first engaged, which is to ensure service quality and peace of mind where our viewers interact with the Livas brand and offerings."
"Our deployment with Livas truly demonstrates the capacity of CASIS to reliably scale in support of increasingly rich subscriber offerings from multi-platform operators," said Andrei Noppe, Senior Vice President and General Manager EMEA and APAC, SeaChange. "We're pleased that our products and services will continue to enable Livas to provide market-leading cable, terrestrial and IPTV services."
SeaChange linear broadcast software solutions are in place with over 150 customers globally. They enable cable, terrestrial and satellite providers to offer linear channel subscribers more dynamic and personalized viewing through support for rich metadata. SeaChange software handles metadata to ensure program management and accurate EPGs; optimizes metadata compression to preserve bandwidth for content delivery; and easily regionalizes for content tailoring to suit languages and geographies. CASIS provides MPEG/DVB-compliant tables, access criteria generation, and MUX profile scheduling.
At IBC2013 (Amsterdam, Sept. 12-17, stand 14.B20) SeaChange will demonstrate its linear broadcast solutions along with its new generation of software solutions for multi-screen delivery, subscriber experience, home gateways and advertising.
