SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Sept. 12, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Envivio (Nasdaq:ENVI), a leading provider of software-based video processing and delivery solutions, today announced that Numericable, the leading cable operator in France, has deployed Envivio software-based headend solutions to provision the SD and HD TV services component of its new triple-play service.
Envivio Muse™ encoders on the Envivio 4Caster™G4 Intel-based appliance, managed and controlled using Envivio's network management system, will ensure the delivery of high-quality video in multiple adaptive bitrate (ABR) profiles to customers of the new service.
"We were looking to work with an expert that could provide a flexible, fully converged solution to allow us to get our new service up and running quickly," said Philippe Le May, Numericable CTO. "Excellent video quality in combination with scalability and the ability to integrate the solution quickly were key criteria for us in choosing to work with Envivio on this project."
"While we have extensive deployments with telecom operators in France, we are very excited to be working with Numericable," said Julien Signès, Envivio's president and CEO. "This deployment is a real testament to our ability to work with a client who is focused on delivering a high-quality experience for consumers through triple-play services."
Envivio Muse software supports live or on-demand video encoding and transcoding, with solutions designed to deliver best-in-class video quality for all codecs—HEVC (H.265), AVC (H.264) and MPEG-2—thanks to proprietary video algorithms. Envivio's robust software-based architecture runs on Intel-based server appliances or blade servers from HP, Cisco or IBM in a datacenter/cloud environment.
