Kentucky is most well-known for two things: Horse racing and bourbon. Both are in the spotlight this weekend at the 141st running of the Kentucky Derby where the official drink is, you guessed it, the mint julep.
Derby-goers will pay from $10 to $2,500 at Churchill Downs for one of the 250,000-plus glasses of the sugary concoction that will be served this weekend.

What makes a drink with bourbon, sugar and mint worth $2,500?
Well, they're rare. Brown-Forman only makes 10 of the gold-plated "Winner's Circle Cups." Here's what's inside:
Woodford Reserve 2015 Kentucky Derby Mint Julep
—2 ounces Woodford Reserve Double Oaked
—0.75 ounce coconut palm sugar syrup
—6-8 chocolate mint sprigs
—Candied orange and lemon slices for garnish
—Powdered sugar
If those are sold out, never fear. There are still some of the 90 "Victory Cup" mint juleps available for just $1,000.
The proceeds go to the Wounded Warrior Equestrian Program.
