Top White Collar Jobs: Overseas Talent War

Which sectors are in a hiring frenzy for executives this year? Gary Burnison of Korn/Ferry International was on “Morning Call” with Mark Haines. He talked about where his firm sees most white-collar jobs going this year.

Burnison says China and India are the only labor markets seeing sustained growth – so companies in other parts of the world are experiencing a “war for talent.” They want to get as much bang for their buck as they can with their top brass.

Among Burnison’s hot sectors looking for new executives: Financial services - especially private equity and derivatives - are ripe for hiring strong execs, as are companies in the healthcare sector.

Tech firms are also looking to hire strong executives for their sales and marketing teams, as those tend to be the biggest cash generators for tech companies.

And finally, Burnison sees the white-collar job outlook looking good in the industrials sector. He says there is a strong demand for leadership in the engineering field, as well as in the supply chain as industrials try to “squeeze efficiency” out of their workforce to compete overseas.
