British health and beauty group Alliance Boots said Thursday sales in the third quarter rose 5.1% compared with the same period a year ago.
Like for like sales - or sales at stores open at least a year - rose 1.6% in the 13 weeks through Dec. 31, the company said in a trading update. The company didn't give actual revenue figures.
The recently merged group's U.K. stores - Boots the Chemist and Alliance Pharmacy - reported a 1.5% gain on a like-for-like basis.
Alliance Boots was created by the merger in July of Boots Group and pan-European drugs distributor Alliance UniChem.
Alliance Boots has retail operations spanning seven countries across Europe and Thailand and includes an associate in Switzerland. It is also a pharmaceutical wholesaler in Europe, serving over 125,000 pharmacies, hospitals and health centers.
Alliance Boots shares fell 0.8% to 826.50 pence (12.34 euros; $16.01) in morning trading on the London Stock Exchange.
