LG Electronics, the world's fifth-biggest mobile phone maker, said on Monday it was looking for a rise of about 60% in handset sales in Europe this year, with the introduction of new premium models.
"In 2006, LG achieved a total sales volume of 8.7 million units in Europe. The company is targeting sales of more than 14 million units in Europe in 2007," it said in a statement.
The goal was announced as LG launched internationally two high-end handset models, the Shine and PRADA phones.
The target figure represented 18% of its 2007 whole sale target of 78 million units this year which is also up about 20% from 2006.
