The guys go behind the headlines and give you their take on... the winners & losers this quarter...sinking corn prices... and more. Find out where they see fast money.

ACTION-PACKED QUARTER: WINNERS
The headline: The top performing sectors in the S&P 500 this quarter were materials, utilities and telecom.

The word: Tim Strazzini says one of the nice things about the recent swoon is that investors can buy telecom.

Eric Bolling says utilities and materials are hot, stay with them. He adds two of his picks are higher; Companhia Vale do Rio Doce (ADR) RIOis up 28%, and refiners like Tesoro (TSO) are up 35%

Dylan adds that Radio Shack (RSH) was the single best performing stock in the S&P 500 and Jeff Macke recommended investors buy this stock a few weeks back on “Fast Money”. Jeff thinks there’s still more room on this stock. Dylan adds Goodyear Tire (GT) was up 47% and Guy Adami recommended that stock.

ACTION-PACKED QUARTER: LOSERS
The headline: The worst performing sectors in the S&P 500 this quarter were consumer discretionary, information tech and financials

The word: Jeff Macke says when the financials aren’t leading, it’s very hard for the rest of the market to follow. Tim Strazzini adds he doesn’t think the financials will get ugly, but they won’t be the outperforming sector this year.

Dylan Ratigan says Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) was the worst performer for the S&P 500. Tim Strazzini and Guy Adami recommended investors short the stock. Tim Strazzini says although some of the semi’s will rally over the rest of the year, he believes AMD will be left behind.

AMBER TRADES OF GRAIN:
The headline: Corn Prices Sink After Report Says Farmers Will Plant MostSince 1944

The word: Eric Bolling explains that corn went limit down today – which is the maximum amount it can move in a day. Eric adds that his Fast Money “Ag” play is still doing well. (In case you missed it yesterday, Eric introduced the Fast Money Ag play. They are four companies Eric believes will do well in the agricultural space. They are Monsanto (MON) for seed, Agrium (AGU) for fertilizer, John Deere (DE) for tractors and Bunge (BG) for food.)

Jeff Macke adds that if corn stays low it will be great for General Mills (GIS), as well as Tyson (TSN) and Pilgrim’s Pride (PPC). Guy Adami adds Kellog’s (K).

SEMI SLAUGHTER
The headline: Semiconductors HOLDR’s ETF (SMH) Falls 3% on Slowing Economy Fears. Can Micron (MU) Earnings Wednesday Save the Semis?

The word: Tim Strazzini says the drop is due to negative news from RF Microdevices (RFMD) and reminds that he has never advocated for that stock. Silicon Motion Technology (SIMO) also went lower, he says. Ahead of earnings Tim says short MU.

PET PEEVE:
The headline: The FDA Finds Melamine, A Plastic Chemical, In Tainted Pet Food

The word: Jeff Macke says Petsmart (PETM) remains the trade on this because they can answer the concerns of pet owners.

HOW MUCH IS BLACKSTONE WORTH?
The headline: Blackstone May Face Questions About Accounting, Taxes Before IPO

The word: Jeff Macke says, personally, he doesn’t want to be long a company that might take liberties with their books.

IF AT FIRST YOU DON'T SUCCEED
The headline: Brian Hunter Starts New Hedge Fund Six Months After Amaranth Blowup

The word: Eric Bolling says Brian Hunter made $1.5 billion before he lost $6 billion and he would would put his own money in this fund. One caveat, says Eric is that Brian Hunter is commanding big fees.

WHO MOVED MY CHEESE?:
The headline: Kraft (KFT), Will Be Spun-Off By Altria (MO), And Begin Trading On Monday

The word: Guy Adami says Kraft was a $31.5 five years ago, and it’s a $31.5 stock now. He adds, there’s nothing going on at the company and they have a lousy balance sheet. Tim Strazzini says stay with MO, this stock has made him more money in the last month than any other name.

SANJAYA STOCK:
The headline: Pep Boys (PBY) Rises 28% Despite Poor Analyst Ratings, Past Performance

The word: Eric Bolling says this stock is like American Idol hopeful Sanjaya because it too is highly criticized, yet the stock moves higher.
