Channel now reaches 5.9 million viewers a month
London, 13 June 2006: CNBC Europe, the leading pan-European business and financial TV channel, has continued to grow its audience according to the latest EMS survey results. The channel has grown its weekly, monthly and annual audience figures and now reaches 2.8 million viewers a week, 5.9 million viewers a month and 9.6 million viewers annually.
CNBC Europe saw particularly strong growth amongst its key audience group of CEOs and C-Suite executives, which the EMS results showed had increased by 29% and 21% respectively (weekly viewership).
Mick Buckley, president and CEO of CNBC Europe said, "We're pleased that we are continuing our upwards trend in viewing and making gains in the areas which are most important to us. Our audience is made up of senior business leaders, finance professionals and active private investors, which is one of the most sought after and difficult to reach TV audiences in Europe."
The channel also saw a strong growth performance in France and Italy where its weekly viewing figures were up by 24% and 25%.
The EMS results also showed that financial news programming grew faster than all other pan-European TV programming. Since 2005 financial news channels increased their monthly viewership figures by 6%, double that of general news.
"All in all, the figures show that business television is in a strong position and that there is a high demand for our programming over general consumer news," added Buckley.
