The headline: Sears (SHLD) Becomes the Latest In Retail Blowups This Week, Hinting At Weak Consumer

The word: Jeff Macke says April same store sales come out Thursday and the market expects these numbers will be terrible. Jeff says he’s only holding retailers he likes for the long term such as Nordstrom (JWN) and Radio Shack (RSH).

GOING FOR BROKERS:

The headline: Electronic Options Market Interactive Brokers (IKBR) Surges Following IPO

The word: Guy Adami likes The New York Mercantile Exchange (NMX), because he thinks by Labor Day the exchange will have been bought-out.

The headline: Miner Trade Update As Merrill Lynch Says BHP Billiton (BHP) Could Be Stripped And Sold



The word: Eric Bolling says the M&A in the commodities space has been going on for a while. He thinks we’re 7 years into a 15 year M&A cycle. Eric says Anglo America plc (AAUK) is the best play in the space right now. Guy Adami says he likes Freeport-McMoRan (FCX).

WORST OF THE WORST

The headline: Hovnanian (HOV) Falls 4% As It Continues To Be Hit By Subprime Slime

The word: Tim Strazzini says there’s no positive news in sight for housing. Eric Bolling adds that investors shouldn’t buy housing stocks, housing is in a recession.

CABLE OR CONTENT?:

The headline: Cable Stocks Have Nice Run This Week As Content Makes Merger Moves

The word: Tim Strazzini thinks Disney’s (DIS) earnings will be fine, but his favorite names in the space are Viacom (VIA) and News Corp (NWS.A). Eric likes Comcast (CMCSA) because they’re going to start providing content as well as distributing it.
