More Summer Stocks: Columbia Sportswear

Today we’re also talking about how to make money from the great outdoors with Columbia Sportswear (COLM) Chief Executive Timothy Boyle.

How much money do you make in the summer?

“Because we have important holidays (such as Christmas) and weather, winter really drives our retail business,” explains Boyle. “But 37% (of our sales) are in the Spring and its been the most rapidly growing part of the business.”

Do you have an ambition to get into summer shorts and the like?

“That’s the entire summer business,” replies Boyle “The business is now almost equally sportswear and outerwear…(and) footwear is 20% of our business.” He also says “Over 40% of business comes from outside the US.”

You distribute to so many retailers – has that buffered you from the consolidation?

“We have 13,000 retailers globally,” explains Boyle. “It allows a big footprint for us. But, consolidation is happening in the US and Europe…it’s been an advantage for us in Europe."

Dylan Ratigan asks the guys what they think of the stock?

Eric Bolling likes everything about COLM including its chart.

Guy Adami likes the whole story behind the company.
