Danish Brewer Carlsberg Names New CEO

Carlsberg on Monday named Joergen Buhl Rasmussen as chief executive with effect from Oct. 1.

Rasmussen, a member of the Danish brewer's executive board, replaces Nils Smedegaard Andersen, who will become the top executive of shipping company A.P. Moller-Maersk later this year.

Buhl Rasmussen has been in charge of Carlsberg's business in Eastern Europe and its Russian joint venture since April 2006.

Before that the 52-year-old Dane held positions within Gillette, Duracell and Master Foods, among others.

The maker of the Carlsberg and Tuborg brands ranks among the leading brewing groups in the world, and employs more than 30,000 people worldwide. Its products are sold in more than 150 markets.
