The New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority is set to vote later today concerning the new naming rights of the facility formerly known as the Continental Airlines Arena in Rutherford, New Jersey--the home court of the New Jersey Nets. But sources are telling us that clothing manufacturer Izod is expected to prevail and that the facility with most likely be renamed the Izod Center.
The process was overseen by Nets CEO Brett Yormark, who announced yesterday that Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment, an affiliate of the Nets, will start its own company to help teams and facilities secure naming rights. The Nets are only planning on playing in the facility for the next two seasons. Then they'll move to Brooklyn, where they will play in the Barclays Center.
