SES Astra to make acquisitions in services to boost growth - CEO

FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) - SES Global unit SES Astra plans to make acquisitions in the services division to boost growth, the unit's chief executive Ferdinand Kayser told Financial Times Deutschland in an interview.

SES Astra, which supplies television stations with transponder capacity via its network of 15 satellites, has been offering companies services to lessen its dependence on the digital TV business. Oil companies, for instance, use satellites to stay in touch with their offshore platforms.

The company is also interested in buying regional satellite companies, Kayser said.
