VIENNA (Thomson Financial) - Austrian construction conglomerate Strabag SE said that is is among the eight companies vying to take part in the tender for an electronic toll collection (ETC) system in Slovakia.
The Austrian press agency APA reported that a Strabag spokesperson confirmed his company's interest in the ETC tender and that Strabag is co-operating with Israel's Housing & Construction Holding and Africa Israel Investments on the project.
Additional potential bidders include Austrian companies Kapsch TrafficCom and Efkon, as well as the Austrian unit of the Siemens conglomerate, according to APA.
The Slovak motorways authority will decide by Nov 23 which companies can put forward a formal bid and the tender is expected to be awarded in Jan 2008, APA reported.
