Being on Donny Deutsch's show was a great - if slightly nerve-racking - experience for me. One of the reasons I wanted to be on the show is that I enjoy its focus on hope and happy
endings, and Donny’s obvious desire to see people achieve their dreams in all aspects of their lives. This seems to be the true engine of the show, and I find both the guests and the host to be very inspirational, which makes it a bit of a rarity in an often sensationalized medium.
First, I wanted to thank the crew and people behind the show, who were uniformly wonderful to me. As a former hairdresser, I can say the hair and makeup people were top-notch. And I got to meet Sam, one of the show’s writers, who is a huge self-admitted comics junkie, who said that pitching for a Superman story actually led him, in a strange way, to his current career, which he truly loves. One finds comics lovers everywhere. We’re like a secret underground society.
The thing that almost had me giggling was how perfect Donny would be as a secret identity for a superhero (hey, I’m always at least a LITTLE bit on the clock!). He’s rich, cares about justice, looks great in a suit and tie, and has the perfect secret identity name. All the best hero civilian names are alliterative; Peter Parker, Reed Richards, Bruce Banner, Clark Kent, Donny Deutsch… he could be BIG IDEA MAN!
Thanks to Melanie, Meredith, Donny, and everyone else involved in booking me on the show. I had a great time!
And you people out there reading this? Try some comics, there’s a wealth of brilliant stuff out there waiting for you!
