European Shares Set to Recover After Dow Bounces

European shares are expected to rise on a light earnings session on Friday, rebounding from two-week lows, after a rally on Wall Street.

Financial spread betters expect Britain's FTSE 100 to open up 35 to 36 points, Germany's DAX to gain 56 to 70 points and France's CAC-40 to rise 22 to 29 points.

U.S. indexes reversed a three-day fall on Thursday as a recovery in battered retail and financial shares help offset another batch of gloomy economic data.

The European earnings calendar is fairly slim, with just a handful of blue-chips reporting, including Alcatel-Lucent, TeliaSonera and private bank Julius Baer.

A bounce in crude oil prices on the back of expectations of a cold snap in the United States could help boost shares in major energy producers.
