London, 7 May 2008 – CNBC Europe, the leading pan-European business and financial TV network has appointed Paul Maraviglia as VP European Sales Director, EMEA. He will be responsible for leading the advertising sales teams across the region, which includes teams in the UK, France and Germany, as well as representatives in the Middle East and Eastern Europe. He will also be responsible for opening up new and emerging markets and developing the commercial aspects of new franchises, including the recently launched CNBC Life, the network’s weekend lifestyle programming block.
Maraviglia is an experienced commercial operator within the media sector. He joins CNBC Europe from Tartan Films where he has been leading the company as managing director of the UK and US operations. Prior to this, he was managing director, EMEA of McGraw-Hill Education for two and a half years, between 2005 and 2007.
Between 2000 and 2005, Maraviglia was Vice President, International Publisher for BusinessWeek magazine. Initially Maraviglia developed the European product and later took on responsibility for all revenues across the BusinessWeek franchise outside North America from print and online editions to event and TV sponsorship and the development of local language editions including BusinessWeek China.
Prior to this, he spent nearly 10 years with the Financial Times, working with the paper from 1991 to 2000. He spent three years as area manager for Latin American and theCaribbean, before becoming Regional Director (France, Benelux, Iberia, and the Middle East) based in Paris. He became Corporate Sales Director in 1999, with responsibility for ten worldwide key customer relationships across the Financial Times Group.

Maraviglia will join the network on 12th May 2008 and replaces Liz Jones who left April.
