Nike And Its "Goat Intestines" Shoe

Bernard Lagat, who will be representing the U.S. this summer after winning the bronze and the silver medals in 2000 and 2004 for Kenya in the 1,500 meter, will also be running the 5,000 meters here in Beijing.

The shoes he will be running in--the Air Matumbo from Nike--seem to weigh as much as a potato chip bag, but that's not the best part.

As first reported Jay Weiner of the Sports Business Journal the word Matumbo means "lower goat intestines" in Swahili, Legat's native language. The shoe is not really made out of goat, but the goat is very common in Kenya.
