Dow and S&P on Track for Biggest Point Gains Ever

As of 3:30 the Dow was up over 700 points and the S&P was up over 85. If it holds onto these gains, we will witness the biggest one day point gains ever. Prior to today, here are the biggest moves in points and % for the Dow, NASDAQ and S&P

Dow Jones Industrial Average:

  • Biggest point gain of +499.2 on 3/16/2000
    • Last 450+ point gain was on 9/30/08 when the Dow gained 485
    • The Dow gained 489 on 7/24/02
  • Biggest % gain of +15.3% on 3/15/1933
    • Last 5% gain was on 7/29/02 when the Dow gained 5.4%
