The Week and You:  Footnotes To History

It was a week for the history books, and not just because an African-American won a U.S. presidential election for the first time.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the Dow Jones Industrials plunged by the biggest two-day total ever. The biggest companies in America's biggest industry, automaking, reported staggering quarterly losses.

The wild markets did not discourage CNBC guests from picking stocks. Some even looked for clues in the outcome of the election.
