Black October - Could It Happen Again?

graphic_fast_money.jpg

As the year draws to a close the Fast Money traders predict whether the issues that vexed investors in 2008 will continue to be troubling in 2009.

Take for example, the events leading up to the Black October sell-off. The S&P 500 tumbled almost 17% that month alone.

Will we see fear and volatility return to those levels?

Here are some nuggets from the traders for 2009.

Karen Finerman: I don’t know how long the calm will last but something else will happen. It could be autos or it could be a crisis in Europe but panic will return.

Pete Najarian: Remember right now volume is light. No one is in the market because of the holidays. But in January I expect to see volatility return.

Jeff Macke: There’s skepticism toward the bailout. Time your trades and try not to get your face ripped off.

Joe Terranova: There’s tremendous uncertainty and that’s why people are on the sidelines.

What do you think? Tell us now.
