St. Patrick's Day has turned into a huge merchandising opportunity for both Major League Baseball and the NBA. And while you can get gear of any NBA team in that famous green to celebrate the holiday on March 17, there are some baseball teams that aren't exactly participating.
On MLB.com, the ad says "everyone feels lucky on St. Patrick's Day."
But if you are a fan of the Toronto Blue Jays, Florida Marlins, Tampa Bay Rays, Arizona Diamondbacks or the Washington Nationals, you're out of luck.
No green for you!
About 36 million people in the United States claim Irish ancestry, according to the latest U.S. Census data. We'd like to call this the "Big Baseball Merchandise Scandal," but we were unable to prove than any of the cities where these teams play have any sizeable population of Irish people. We also couldn't prove that any of these teams (maybe with the exception of the Rays) are selling any gear these days.
