Final Four Will Come Cheap

As of this morning, the average Final Four ticket on StubHub is going for $446. How cheap is that? Well, here are the last three averages from the secondary ticket company.

2005 St. Louis $684
2006 Indianapolis $615
2007 Atlanta $578
2008 San Antonio $655

So could it go up from here? Probably not much, given the overall economic environment and the local economy in Detroit. And don’t forget that this game is being played in Ford Field, so the quantity of tickets would bring the price down even in normal times.

“It will continue to trend downward, especially with the amount of tickets we have and the fact that there are some less than desirable seats for Final Fours,” said StubHub spokesman Sean Pate. “That said, should Michigan State or Michigan somehow make it to Detroit, I could see that spiking prices some, but if there is any lack of star power whatsoever it will drop off considerably. Detroit is not going to spawn much ancillary tourism. That’s why this should be the least expensive Final Four ticket in the online secondary ticket era.”

We’ll continue to track the prices for you throughout the tournament.
