Cramer: A Warren Commission for the Financial Crisis

Cramer wants to hold accountable the people responsible for this financial crisis as much as anyone. Bear raiders, Ponzi schemers, financial fat cats – they should all pay. But Congress shouldn’t be anywhere near this meting out of justice. The endless political theater would do more harm than good. Need proof? See: AIG bonuses.

President Obama should set up a Warren Commission-like body to investigate what happened, Cramer said. Give the commission subpoena power and have it make indictment recommendations to the Justice Department. And make sure someone honorable but nonpartisan is in control. That way the politics are put aside, and the people have their day in court.
