Wall Street Or Wild West?

graphic_fast_money.jpg

These days you might confuse Wall Street for the Wild, Wild West. In fact, head to downtown Manhattan and you’d half expect to see Wyatt Earp swaggering along.

That’s because the gun-slinging trading unit at Bank of America Merrill Lynch saved the day this earnings season – by generating profits and lifting the entire bank’s results. The same thing is true at JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs .

In fact, if it wasn't for the fast money being made by the equity, bond and commodity cowboys, these banks -- and our taxpayer investment -- could be toast.

However, you’d better be quick or your profits could end up dead. In the last six months, we've already had two rapid fire bull markets of more than 20 percent.

And don’t be expecting a smooth ride – nope, it's a bucking bronco out there. You’ll need a tight stop and you probably shouldn't ride for more than a few days.

Finally, don't be a hero. If you know you’re a buy-and-hold type, this market could be a one-way ticket to cemetery hill. But if you can train yourself to become quick on the trigger, you could end up top gun.

Obviously, we’re having some fun with this post – but if you’d like to hear some serious tips from the Fast Money gang about getting in and out of stocks in this environment – please watch the video to your left.
