Morning Again In America

graphic_fast_money.jpg

Just two months ago, nearly half of America thought we were freefalling toward another Great Depression. But that was then.

As quickly as the seasons changed, the confidence of the country has as well.

Earlier this week, fresh data signaled a springtime pick-up in existing home sales. Then, Disney said park bookings were up from a year ago and today and the widely-followed ADP report showed companies are laying off fewer workers than expected.

All three items lend support to the view that the consumers may be regaining some confidence.

In fact, that very sentiment is already reflected in the price action of certain stocks. Believe it or not, consumer shares such as Best Buy and Home Depot are second only to tech in performance this year.

With a confident new president in place, is it morning again in America?

According to CNBC’s Margaret Brennan it’s not exactly morning -- it's more like dawn. “Consumers aren’t robust, they’re just a little less scared,” she says.

So, what’s the trade?

Go with what’s working, counsels Jeff Macke. Right now I find Target intriguing.

Transactions, blurts Pete Najarian. That’s where you go. Look at Visa or Mastercard .

I’d be a buyer of China’s consumer, adds Tim Seymour. Look at LG Electronics or AU Optronics .
