Pops & Drops: Tiffany, Take-Two...

Following are the day’s biggest winners and losers. Find out why shares of CIT and Tiffany popped while Take-Two Interactive and UnitedHealth dropped.

POPS (stocks that jumped higher)

CIT (CIT) popped 21%. The corporate lender, which is struggling to survive, moved higher after reporting its in talks with regulators about a rescue. - I would never recommend trading this stock considering the circumstances, counsels Joe Terranova.

Vimpel-Comm (VIP) popped 6%. Russia’s second largest mobile company moved in tandem with emerging markets. - This is a great company, says Tim Seymour.

Tiffany (TIF) popped 7%. Citi upgraded rival jeweler Blue Nile to ‘Buy” from ‘Hold.’ - I think it could rally even further, speculates Guy Adami.

Algae. The newest form of renewable energy comes in the form of pond scum, or algae. Exxon Mobil, the largest U.S. energy company, is teaming up with biotech firm Synthetic Genomics and investing $600 million to develop new biofuels made from the photosynthetic organism

BHP Billiton (BHP) popped 3%. The miner made gains on hopes metal prices will recover soon. - Iron ore negotiations lie ahead with China, explains Tim Seymour, I'd be careful.

L-3 Comm (LLL) popped 3%. JPMorgan upgraded this maker of communications and surveillance equipment to ‘overweight’ from ‘neutral.’ - This is a name I like, says Guy Adami.

DROPS (stocks that slid lower)

Take-Two Interactive (TTWO) dropped 10%. The maker of “Grand Theft Auto” reduced its full year outlook. - The stock is near its 52-week lows but I wouldn't buy, counsels Pete Najarian.

UnitedHealth (UNH) dropped 1%. This company and rival Aetna both finished lower despite word that the Pentagon had awarded military health care contracts worth tens of billions of dollars to the provider. - There's a lot of uncertainty in this space, reminds Joe Terranova.
