Better News on Housing

Home builders look to open modestly higher as the Case-Shiller Home Price Index showed a month-over-month increase of 1.4 percent in home prices in June, the second month in a row of price increases. Home prices declined 15.4 percent year over year, less than expected.

There were price gains in 18 of the 20 months, with only Las Vegas and Detroit showing a decline.
