Take Your Position: Cyber Monday

If Black Friday makes drool, this Cyber Monday may make you absolutely foam at the mouth!

That’s because retailers are planning more online promotions this year. According to the National Retail Federation nearly 9 out of 10 retailers plan specific Cyber Monday deals.

In fact, online shopping has become such an integral part of holiday sales that many of that nation’s largest stores including Target, Walmart , and Toys R Us are planning to offer specials on their websites all weekend long.

Sounds intriguing. Now, what’s Cyber Monday you ask?

It’s the familiar term for the Monday following Thanksgiving, a time when sellers appeal to holiday shoppers who have just returned to work from a long weekend, and use their office computers to make purchases.

So, how should you game Cyber Monday?

I’d look at Amazon , says Citi analyst Mark Mahaney. According to my estimates they’ll likely show 30% year over year growth in this quarter, he says. It looks like they're a recession market share winner. And they're layering in the acquistion of Zappos. It seems to me that they’re the best way to play online retail sales.

The obvious downstream trade is UPS , says Guy Adami. But be careful - at these levels the valuations don't make sense.

On the strength of Amazon's Kindle I'm long puts in Barnes & Noble, says Karen Finerman. I think the e-reader will be a disaster for the brick and mortar book business over time.
