Pops & Drops: Continental Airlines, Las Vegas Sands...

Following are the day’s biggest winners and losers. Find out why shares of Continental Airlines and Las Vegas Sands popped while DuPont and Visa dropped.

POPS (stocks that jumped higher)

Continental Airlines (CAL) popped 14%. The carrier reported better than expected results, with passenger traffic up 6.3% from last year. - Options were off the charts on Tuesday, adds Pete Najarian.

Las Vegas Sands (LVS) popped 10%. This and other casino stocks climbed for a second day on reports of strong December gaming revenue in Macau. - It might be time to take profits, says Guy Adami.

HSBC (HBC) popped 2%. Barclays initiated coverage of HSBC as well as other European banks at overweight. - It's all about improved liquidity and a commercial presence that few can match, says Tim Seymour.

Palm (PALM) popped 2%. Morgan Stanley initiated the name at 'overweight' citing its '"strong" operating system and distribution. - I think it's going higher, says Joe Terranova.

Electronic Arts (ERTS) popped 3%. Nintendo said 2009 sales were at record highs.

DROPS (stocks that slid lower)

DuPont (DD) dropped 1%. Investors appear to be taking profits one day after Goldman upped its price target on the name.

Visa (V) dropped 1%. RBC cut Visa to 'Outperform' from 'Top Pick' after shares ran up 67% in 2009.

AutoZone (AZO) dropped 1%. After Ford reported a 33% jump in December sales, investors began to think more people were buying new and less people were fixing up their old cars.
