An environmental group says it's planning to push for the ouster of Massey Energy CEO Don Blankenship.
Mountain Justice announced Monday that it's planning to protest against Blankenship at Massey's annual meeting May 18 in Richmond, Va.
Mountain Justice has conducted a series of protests against mountaintop removal coal mining at Massey operations in West Virginia.
The group says the April 5 explosion that killed 29 men at Massey's Upper Big Branch underground mine is another reason to target Blankenship. They call him "notorious" for putting production ahead of safety and health.
Massey has consistently rejected calls for Blankenship's ouster since the explosion and has strenuously denied putting profits ahead of safety.
