I feel Jonah Bloom's pain. I've had to make a few forays into the job market over the years seeking to fill a variety of newsroom positions. You'd think the digital age would have made the process easier. I find it tends to add to the clutter.
What works best, I find, is a good internship program. It lets you get young candidates in the door, see how they perform, and teach them good habits.
