With unemployment at 10 percent, should we consider additional stimulus spending?
"All economists learn the phrase necessary and sufficient," Mohamed El-Erian, CEO and Co-CIO of Pimco, said. "What the system is telling us repeatedly, because policy outcomes are short of policy expectation, is that it hasn't been sufficient. So, it's important to think beyond what has been done."
While the stimulus worked in averting a depression, that doesn't mean more stimulus would be effective in improving the economy today, he said.
