On Wednesday, Bob McCann, CEO of UBS Wealth Management, hosted a roundtable discussion on politics and the economy with some heavyweight Wall Streeters. The attendees included Blackstone founder Stephen Schwarzman and former Senator Phil Gramm.
But by far the highlight of the event was Bill Clinton's one on one talk with McCann. We were told by people familiar with the matter that Clinton waived his usual speaking fee—said to be six figures—because of McCann's history of charitable work in Northern Ireland.
Clinton spoke about the economy and the upcoming midterm elections.
Perhaps not surprisingly, he thinks that the Democrats won't fare as badly as many predict next week.
