The Boston Globe to Publish "The MFA Takes Wing," a Special Magazine on Sunday, November 14, 2010 56-Page Glossy Magazine is Complete Guide to the Museum of Fine Arts' New Art of the Americas Wing

BOSTON, Nov 12, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- On Sunday, November 14, 2010, The Boston Globe will publish a special magazine devoted to the opening of the Museum of Fine Arts' major new expansion, the Art of the Americas Wing.

Entitled, "The MFA takes wing," the 56-page full-color glossy magazine will appear in all editions of the Boston Sunday Globe as well as in The New York Times in greater Boston and Manhattan.

Planned for a decade and made possible by a $500 million fundraising effort, the MFA's new Art of the Americas Wing is a major addition to Boston's standing as an international arts and cultural center. "The MFA takes wing" provides an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the project, and captures all that encompasses this major undertaking, from the architectural details and elaborate installment procedures to the must-see pieces of art housed in the new wing.

The Globe's art critic, Sebastian Smee, offers a comprehensive review of how well the new wing accomplishes its high ambitions of presenting works from all the Americas. He shares his view on the wide variety of exhibits and display formats that house some of the best know pieces of American artwork, and also suggests the best pieces for parents to show their children.
