At the Financial Follies

Friday night many of us in the biz journalism biz participated in an annual rite: The Financial Follies.

It's a formal dinner put on by the New York Financial Writers' Association to benefit its various scholarship funds and educational programs. Various news outfits, plus a few financial outfits and public relations firms, buy up tables at the event and proceed to drink and schmooze.

Oh yeah, there's also a series of song and dance skits, put on by the more talented of the association. In some instances the numbers are pretty damn clever: Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" rendered as a case of "Bad Finance," for example. ("No ... No ... C-D-O")
