Pops & Drops: Motorola, Barnes & Noble, Tyson Foods and More

With the Dow closing up nearly 250 points Wednesday, the "Fast Money" traders discussed some of the market's biggest gainers and a stock that dropped, too:

POPS (stocks that moved higher)

Consol Energy (CNX) popped 4%: Shares of the coal producer forged "full steam" ahead, as it was boosted to ‘strong buy’ from ‘outperform’ at Raymond James. Joe Terranova of Virtus Investment Partners thinks coal is doing great right now, but said Walter Energy is your best play.

Motorola (MOT) popped 4%: The US maker of mobile phones and two-way radios, which plans to split into two, said it will complete the move on Jan. 4 and issue current shareholders new shares in the two companies. Guy Adami of Drakon Capital doesn't "like" or "dislike" this stock, but said it's been trading sideways for sometime and thinks it's "dead money."

NVIDIA (NVDA) popped 4%: The maker of graphic chips is now in talks with Intelas the two companies look to settle a legal dispute over the use of each other’s technology. OptionMONSTER.com co-founder Pete Najarian said there's been some option activity in this name.

Tyson Foods (TSN) popped 4%: The meat and food producer's stock rallied after receiving an upgrade to ‘neutral’ from ‘sell’ at Goldman Sachs.

Harmon International Industries (HAR) popped 6%: The audio manufacturer's stock rallied Wednesday after being raised to ‘overweight’ from ‘neutral’ at JPMorgan, who cited luxury car demand in the US and China as another potential for higher profit.

DROPS (stocks that moved lower)

Barnes & Noble (BKS) dropped 3%: Shares of the book retailer sold off after it reported a quarterly loss stemming from the development of its Nook electronic reading device and weak physical book sales, as well. Karen Finerman, president of Metropolitan Capital Advisors, is short this name.
