Ford, GM, Toyota: What's the Best Auto Trade?

Ford Motor. General Motors. Toyota Motor.

Which is the better auto trade? If you ask "Fast Money" traders Steve Cortes and Tim Seymour, it's Toyota .

Seymour, founder of EmergingMoney.com, has owned shares of Toyota for some time. He likes the Toyota City, Japan-based company because 50 percent of its revenues come from the US, which he called "the most profitable market in the world."

"The US market is storming back and scores for Toyota here are going to be fantastic," Seymour said. "Lowest inventories ever. Highest miles driven and age of fleet than we've seen in a long time adds up for a fantastic turn around for Toyota."

Just six months ago, noted Seymour, many questioned whether the automaker would be able to challenge the many lawsuits over reports of sudden acceleration and still stay cash positive. So far, he said, they have.

Cortes also likes and owns Toyota shares for one reason: he thinks it makes better cars than the competition. Toyota's problem has been with currency, explained the Veracruz founder. The yen had been strong, so TM couldn't effectively export, but that's turning around now.

Cortes added that General Motors hasn't been a profitable company, so he would avoid its stock.

Joe Terranova, chief market strategist of Virtus Investment Partners, likes Ford and GM. To play it, he suggests auto parts maker Johnson Controls.
