What New York City savings bank used former Yankee Joe DiMaggio as its spokesperson?
Joe DiMaggio, or "Joltin' Joe" as he was known, was the celebrity spokesperson for the Bowery Savings Bank from 1972 to 1992. The bank opened in 1834 in Manhattan's Bowery and expanded to the outer boroughs, but it fell on hard times in 1982 and was sold ten years later. DiMaggio died in 1999, but his commercials for the bank are fondly remembered today.
