Overnight bank deposits at ECB inch higher

FRANKFURT, Dec 15 (Reuters) - Overnight deposits at the European Central Bank edged higher, figures on Wednesday showed. The ECB reported the following daily data on liquidity provision, in millions of euros. Click for full details. TODAY PREV DAY Use of overnight loan facility 39 8 Use of overnight deposit facility 31,954 26,975 Covered bond purchase programme 60,941 60,941 Excess liquidity climbed to almost 90 billion euros in recent days, the highest it has been since the end of September when banks had to repay the ECB's second hand-out of one-year loans. In June the ECB said it had completed its year-long covered bond buying programme. The total amount purchased occasionally fluctuates due to valuation issues.
