Goldman tops the list of Wall Street firms on Glassdoor.com's annual "Employees Choice Awards." It comes in ranked 17 overall of best places to work. But that's high enough to put it well above its competitors: The next Wall Street powerhouse on the list is Morgan Stanley, which is ranked 37 overall.

Lloyd Blankfein, the CEO of Goldman, gets good marks from employees. He scored 97 percent approval rating, which ties him with Apple's Steve Jobs.

Deutsche Bank came in at 48. There was no sign of Barclays, Bank of America, UBS, Citigroup or Credit Suisse on the top 50 list.

The list is loaded with consulting firms, like Bain & Company (No. 3), Boston Consulting (No. 6), SAS Institute (No. 7) , Slalom Consulting (No. 8) and McKinsey (No. 18). Insurance companies score well too: Northwestern Mutual, Mass Mutual, Travelers and State Farm all make the list.
