Tennis video games aren’t annual titles, but when they hit the market they always seem to do better than expected.
The last time 2K Sports made a tennis game, in 2008, they sold 1.5 million copies. And even if you aren’t a huge fan of the actual game, it’s one of the sports that translates really well on the Nintendo Wii in part because the learning curve isn’t steep.
2K Sports, which is coming off blockbuster sales from NBA 2K11, is announcing today that Top Spin 4 will hit stores on March 15. And for those that love the game, it promises a healthy line up of current stars including Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Andy Roddick and Serena Williams as well as some great greats including Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras, Bjorn Borg, Ivan Lendl and Jim Courier.
To add some extra buzz to the game, Chris Snyder, director of marketing for 2K Sports, said that fans who preorder the game through GameStop will get a code that will unlock Agassi with his classic mullet. Snyder did say however that Agassi would not be appearing in his early 90s Nike outfit because Agassi now has a deal with Adidas.
