The Lunar New Year 4709, or year 2011 in the Western calendar, is the Year of the Metal Rabbit.
The Rabbit is said to be the luckiest sign in the Chinese calendar and while astrologers believe that stock prices tend to rise in bunny years, that hasn't been in case in recent cycles: 1987 was the year of the stock market crash and 1999 was notable for being the tail end of the Asian financial crisis.
