UBS Bonus Pool: From Bad to 'A Bit Better': Sources

After a week’s delay, senior executives at UBS’s U.S. investment bank are getting a fresh look Wednesday at the size of the bonus pool they will divvy up for their employees.

While senior bankers tell me the size of the pool is better than the first go around when it was termed “unworkable," it is still of a size that will put UBS bankers at the low end of pay amongst their peers.

Those bankers, who saw their salaries increase in recent years, received little in the way of bonuses in 2009 or 2010.

Now, with the prospect of another lean year, senior execs at the firm tell me the key question for many bankers will be whether they can find employment elsewhere.
